Our repertoire reaches back to the Big Band era of the 1940’s with hits from Glen Miller, Duke Ellington, and Tommy Dorsey. Twist your way through the Fabulous 50’s with Chubby Checker and Fats Domino. Rock through the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s with the Beach Boys, Elvis, Beatles, Chicago, Eagles, Commodores and Kool And The Gang. From the 90’s forward, your guests won’t have time to rest with chart toppers from U2 and Outkast.
At every point throughout the planning stages of your event we can assist in the coordination of the time-line, work with your vendors to ensure a seamless evening, leaving you to focus on enjoying yourself and having the time of your life.
Our pre-show setup is invisible to your guests and will not disrupt the sequence of events that you’ve planned for the day. From the moment your first guests arrive until the last guest leaves, music will fill the air, complement the ambience that you worked so hard to create, and in the end become the acoustic signature for an unforgettable event.
Meet The Band
” It’s a Baritone!” “It’s a Tenor!” “It’s an Alto!” “It’s a Soprano!” “It’s ALL THE ABOVE!” From duke Ellington – to – Elvis, – to Chicago, John delivers “Sax” on a Silver Platter. In addition, John’s ability to magically elicit audience participation from fans of all ages continues to remain a mystery. “My goal by the conclusion of each performance, is to “bring out the performer” in each member of my audience. Our job isn’t finished until two-way communication has been established between STREET PLAYERS and every guest in the room!”
Mark has always idolized “Trumpet Greats” such as Doc Severinsen, Phil Driscoll and Wynton Marsalis. In the Columbus area, Mark is widely respected for his fabulous instrumental talent and vocal versatility. A five-year member of (T.B.D.B.I.T.L.), The Best Damn Band In The Land, (O.S.U. Marching Band), “Doc” learned to expect perfection from each performance, a characteristic Mark brings to every STREET PLAYERS engagement. In addition to being a front-man for the STREET PLAYERS show, Mark continuously demonstrates his amazing instrumental versatility and talent by playing trumpet, trombone, flugelhorn and keyboard. This is a combination that is further enhanced by Mark’s fantastic vocal ability, his energetic stage presence, and his dynamic personality.
Rick puts “all the bottom” in the band by building the foundation of each selection with his very polished rhythmic bass. Rick’s on-stage energy coupled with his tremendously melodic vocal ability will magnetically pull you to the dance floor to sing at the top of your lungs — “She Loves You — Yeah – Yeah – Yeah -, She Loves You — Yeah – Yeah – Yeah -, She Loves You — Yeah – Yeah – Yeah – Yeah – Yeeaaahhhhhh”. Rick’s outstanding versatility vocally combined with his instrumental ability represents one of seven very strong and powerful “links” in the STREET PLAYER chain.
Pick a color, any color, and this guitarist will have a suit, tie, shoes and shades to match. Regardless of the engagement, Joe’s guitar and vocal performances are incomparable. “Mr. Ensemble” brings several decades of professional experience to the “Timex Steady” STREET PLAYERS rhythm section. At any moment, Joe and his audience are only a guitar string away from the days of the “VW Micro-bus”, the “GTO”, the “442” and the “CUDA”.
As lead vocalist and keyboard player for STREET PLAYERS, Steve mesmerizes audiences of all ages with his ability to transcend fans back in time to a wonderfully memorable time period. Moments into each song, you’ll find your fingers playing on a “make-believe” keyboard like Elton John or Billy Joel. Then you realize that your lips were moving uncontrollably as Steve’s powerful voice forces you to reminisce of the days when 70 MPH was the rule — not the exception.
Drummer and vocalist Jeff is an Ohio native that went on the road with the touring company of Jesus Christ Superstar when he was 19. He then moved to L.A. CA to persue a career in music. There was fun in the sun for 18 years playing in clubs, doing concerts and recording. Jeff managed to graduate from C.S.U.L.A before moving to columbus to play with the Street Players in 1990. What a great city Columbus is! Favorite drummers: Stanton Moore, David Garibaldi, Stewart Copeland, John Banham, Mitch Mitchell, Levon Helm, Steve Jordan & Steve Feronne.
Bob’s approach to his music is an electric blend of Big Band Jazz spirited with Rock driven rhythms. Bob has traveled all over the world, from Denmark to Spain and Bermuda to Hawaii, performing with some of the greats of our time, including Maynard Ferguson, the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, the Les Elgart Big Band. He also played in the O.S.U. Marching Band (TBDBITL), the O.S.U. Jazz Big Band and still plays with the Columbus Jazz Orchestra (which he is a 21 year member). Bob has also backed up Tony Bennett, Jack Jones, Bob Hope, Patti Page, Rich Little, the Temptations and Doc Severinson, just to mention a few. Bob’s vibrant trumpet helps give STREET PLAYERS that certain sound that can only be described as “Electrifying”.
